Faculty Interest Groups

What’s a FIG? A FIG, or Faculty Interest Group, is a small group (3-8 members) of faculty from diverse disciplines who gather monthly to explore shared passions and interests. You get to decide the agenda of your FIG and also the format for your gatherings.

You may want to chat about shared passions and related experiences, discuss an article or podcast, have coffee or lunch, or take a walk together. Some of the best faculty development can happen in these informal spaces.

Your FIG will meet throughout a semester – once a month for one hour – and be eligible to apply to the CETL for modest funds in support of a common read, speaker fees, catering for a working lunch, or other shared experiences and resources.
